Topic 1: Coco movie review

My favourite movie is Coco. Coco was premiered on October 20, 2017. Coco is a 2017 American computer-animated fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Based on an original idea by Lee Unkrich, it is directed by him and co-directed by Adrian Molina. The film's voice cast stars Anthony Gonzalez, Gael García Bernal, Benjamin Bratt, Alanna Ubach, Renée Victor, Ana Ofelia Murguía and Edward James Olmos. The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel who is accidentally transported to the Land of the Dead, where he seeks the help of his deceased musician great-great-grandfather to return him to his family among the living and to reverse his family's ban on music.

The concept for Coco is inspired by the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead. The film was scripted by Molina and Matthew Aldrich from a story by Unkrich, Jason Katz, Aldrich, and Molina. The film was praised for its animation, voice acting, music, visuals, emotional story, and respect for Mexican culture. The film was chosen by the National Board of Review as the Best Animated Film of 2017.

The first thing I like about this movie is it is very touching. Every character felt genuine, every plot point and twist was earned and extremely well done, and the ending was so moving that it felt like a punch to the gut. Pixar does a great job at building up the narrative and the characters.

Secondly, I like this movie because it accurately represent Mexican culture and morals, as well as explaining how basically the "Day of the dead" works for most mexican families. This film is fairly well done in its aspect of the Mexican culture and especially the details towards Día de Muertos. The Book of Life mixes several Latin American myths and cultures rather than focusing on Mexico. The movie has a lot of references of mexican culture and cameos of old mexican celebrities and artists.

Thirdly, I like this movie because it has good storyline. This movie took me by surprise by how well written it is. The plot twist are amazing and unexpected. The ending is very good and emotional as well.

Overall, This is my favorite 2017 film of all time and it was beautiful. "Coco" brings the "Day of the Dead" tradition of music, family, and death. I love the story where a young Mexican boy must find his great great great grandfather who wanted to be a musician and then enters the fantasy world of "Day of the Dead" and he wanted to get his blessings to return back to reality along with a skeleton friend while his ancestor family are chasing him with a scope of beautiful texture of buildings, magic orange bridges, lots of skeletons with artistic figures, and more. Including the best emotional song like "Remember Me" was the only song that makes me cry at the theater and the ending shows up where he played his song for his old grandmother which you know who is she is that it is important for the plot.
